Install a network printer

Windows

  1. Windows 7: (a) Click Start. (b) Select Devices and Printers.
  2. Click Add Printer.
  3. Select Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer, then click Next.
  4. Select The printer, for example "Lexmark CX510de (ET0021B79134F5)"
  5. Click Next.
  6. On the "Type a printer name window," do the following:
    1. In the Printer name box, enter a name for your printer so you can identify it.
    2. If you want to make this printer your default printer, check Set as the default printer.
    3. Click Next.
  7. On the "You've successfully added" window, do the following:
    1. Click Print a test page.
    2. When you have successfully printed a test page, click Finish.

Mac OS X

  1. Select System Preferences from the Apple menu.
  2. Double-click on Print & Scan (Print & Fax).
  3. In the Print & Scan (Print & Fax) window, click on the plus sign button.
  4. Click on the IP tab in the Print Browser window.
    1. Set Protocol to HP Jetdirect - Socket
    2. For Address, enter the IP address of the printer you want to add.
    3. Leave the Queue field blank. The Name and Location fields are for your reference to keep track of your printers and differentiate between multiple ones.
    4. For Print Using, do not select Generic Postscript Printer.
  5. Click Add. The lab printer will be added to your list of printers.
